A central city square Forum is there since roman colony Pola was founded. Today it looks much different than at the time and the temple of Augustus is the only one that testifies of the ancient past. Temple of Augustus, temple remainins of Diana, capitolium and bacilica are integrated into medieval Communal palace that’s the most significant cuircuit of the arhitectural core in Pula. The only one that’s preserved and very rare in Europe. Forum was a centre of roman city with basilics and temples and a gathering place for citizens. In Roman republic the captol was dedicated to Hercules, the guardian of Pula.
